Natural Alternatives – Home

Various medicinal herbs

After a lifelong interest in natural alternatives to allopathic medicine; in 1992 the “urge” became so strong that I began studying Herbal Medicine.

I qualified as a practitioner, and the rest, as they say, is history! Well, not really, but natural alternatives became a huge part of my life.

I see patients who wish to use natural supplements and herbs, on a part time basis. I use that knowledge and experience to assist you in making informed choices in the supplements, vitamins and herbs which you may want to use.

Over the ages, in different cultures and parts of the world man created a variety of systems of medicines based on spiritual concepts and in harmony with nature.

Mans relationship with plants is as ancient as life itself, but as we have moved away from natural instincts and senses, some-times it is hard for us to understand how early man viewed the plant life around him.

Today we look at the humble weed, as an example, and we don’t realize that it actually might have a reputation among many people, as a herb having the ability to assist in the cure of a variety of ailments.

Ayurvedic Medicine

Ayurveda means “Science of Life”  This school of medicine developed on the Indian continent has been practiced for between 4 and 5 thousand years.

The person is looked at holistically in terms of body, mind and spirit and treated accordingly with a variety of therapies including food, herbs and spices – to correct imbalances in systems.

Traditional Chinese Medicine

Chinese Traditional Medicine has been passed down for thousands of years due to the respect for tradition and of wisdom.  Their medicine also reflects their ordered society, their view of man in relation to natural forces and the mystic intermingling of Heaven and  Earth.

They believed a man/woman’s body and their physical illnesses as well as their potency for healing lay within the relationship of body, mind and spirit.
